KITTEL'S HOUSE - RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Initial rescue and static security of Kittel House took place in 2006 - 2016. A separate article is devoted to this phase in the "life" of Kittel House.

Since the end of 2016, the reconstruction of the already statically secured house has begun for the purpose of its use as an information center, exhibition space and herbal garden.
After the planned termination of the Kittel Museum in no. 11 Beautiful is expected to move the key activities of this museum to Kittel House.

Kittel House - beginning of 2017

Reconstruction of the Kittel House became one of the program objectives of the Slow Tourismus project in the Euroregion Neisse - linking culture with nature, No. 100266935, submitted by the municipality of Pěnčín and the City of Zittau (Germany). borderland. Slow tourism is friendly and sustainable tourism. It is ecological because the visitor behaves ecologically and tries to reconnect with the nature that he studies, protects and enjoys. The aim of the project is not only the reconstruction of the house, but mainly the development of tourism, which will bring to the border area other visitors who will discover the natural and cultural heritage with an emphasis on understanding and internalization of traditional and contemporary life in the region. Emphasis will be placed on cultural traditions in the area (traditional crafts, legends, half-timbered and half-timbered houses, pilgrimage sites), as well as on natural heritage (Zittau Mountains, Kittelov / Pěnčínsko, herbs). An important goal of the project is to preserve and protect the building of the Kittel House accessible to the public and to improve the accessibility of the historical center of Zittau with an emphasis on infrastructure that supports slow tourism.

The active phase of the project is planned between 2016 - 2019. In mid-2019, Kittel House will be open to the public.

In 2016, as part of the approved project, one of the construction projects was implemented - the construction of a water connection. We mainly focused on the preparation of construction activities for the next years.

In 2017, most of the networks in the house were implemented, including the wastewater treatment plant. Again, these were things that are not completely visible at first sight. The pond in front of Burk, which was completely cleaned of hundreds of years of silt deposition, was rebuilt at first glance, and the public was rebuilt with almost invisible walls and bottom. There were also the remaining windows and several doors and various forged elements. On the eastern facade of the house is now a new plaster. A small, inconspicuous wooden house was also built - in the future, the heat pumps of the heating system will be hidden in it so as not to disturb the original appearance of the house. Further work was done inside the house. These were prefabricated constructions of sanitary facilities in the form we are used to in our century. The original dry toilets and water from the spring for washing will be replaced after centuries by today's means.

In 2018 we started with clay plasters and interior plasters in general. Timbering will also undergo a revision, the house will receive new erasures and a new coat. It is also working on sandstone tiles. The plan is also a tiled stove and reconstruction of all doors and wooden elements in the house.
