Panel exhibition on a peaceful and relaxing journey through the region between the Jizera and Zittau Mountains inspired by the life story of Jan Josef Antonín Eleazar Kittel. 1.7.2019 to 31.7.2019 Venue: Vestibule Regional Authority of the Liberec Region, U jezu 4, Liberec

The main theme is peace and quiet on the road in the region between the Jizera and Zittau Mountains. Local cultural and natural treasures enrich us as places for spiritual or mystical experiences. Another important theme of the exhibition is the miraculous doctor from the mountains, Jan Josef Antonin Eleazar Kittel, who lived on Krásná (then Šumburk) in the 18th century and his medical successes were so penetrating, that there were remarkable legends about him, both in Czech and German spiritual culture. Kittel built a beautiful complex of buildings, which is still known as Kittelovsko. In addition to the Kittel House, people still visit the Church of Sts. Joseph, a spring with healing water, occasionally the local rectory, which lives a cultural life. The large, costly decorated Plague Column and the statue of St. Joseph. Kittel also created a lot of medicines, and today is also used Locksmith ointment. The fame of his locksmith ointment began only because of one event associated with Zittau. This was also the inspiration for the authors of the “Slow tourism” project and is therefore also a partner of the project in Saxon or Lusatia Zittau.

The exhibition is part of the project "Slow tourism in the Euroregion Nisa", which aims to increase the tourist attractiveness of the border region. The project was repaired Kittelův house in Krásná-Pěnčín. At present, the interior equipment is being installed and an exhibition commemorating the best in the region between the Jizera and Zittau Mountains and Zittau is worth seeing. There will also be an information center in the house and space for various cultural and social events is being prepared. The Kittel House will be opened during the holiday months of 2019. On the German side, the courtyard of the Zittau town hall and the adjacent areas will be adapted for visitors. The partner of the project is the City of Zittau, the lead partner is the municipality of Pěnčín. The exhibition as well as the whole project is financed by the European Union from the Saxony - Czech Republic 2014-2020 cooperation program.

The exhibition was created as a joint work of many people who have something to tell us about the topic. The view is always from a different angle and it is so interesting to see how our region is viewed by an ethnographer, historian, archaeologist, geologist or as a publicist and photographer. The texts are written by Maria Heinke, Vladimíra Jakběová, Jan Bubal, Jan Prostředník and Jiří Sajbt.

The exhibition will be on display in Liberec in July 2019, when the vestibule of the regional office will be opened. Entry is free of charge, the place is accessible by lift in the building.
